Our guest speaker this year will be Owen Jones, a weekly columnist for The Guardian and author. Owen was born in Sheffield and grew up in Greater Manchester. He published his first book Chavs: The Demonisation of The Working Class in 2012 and his second book The Establishment – And How They Get Away With It is due to be published this September.  Prior to to his career in media, Jones worked as a trade union lobbyist and as a parliamentary researcher for the Labour Party.

The event will begin at 7pm and food will be served from 7:30pm. 
Tickets are £35 and must be bought in advance and can be paid for online or by cheque sent to Scotforth Labour Hall, 47 Scotforth Road, Lancaster, LA1 4SA. The event, five months before the election, is a fundraiser to help the party's 2015 General Election campaign and ensure that Lancaster and Fleetwood is a Labour seat.

  • Morecambe Bay shrimp platter - Morecambe Bay shrimps, smoked mackerel, prawns in Marie Rose sauce and homemade smoked salmon roulade served with brown bread and a dressed green salad - £2 supplement
  • Smoked Duck and Cointreau terrine served with brown bread and a dressed green salad

Main Courses

  • Breast of turkey with a chestnut, shallot and sausage stuffing, served with creamed and roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, bacon wrapped chipolatas and a rich cranberry and red wine
  • Roast Lamb served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes and a mint and mixed berry (g)
  • Rib eye steak served with fat cut chips, roasted cherry tomatoes and a Port and Stilton sauce (g) - £2 supplement
  • Fillet of sea bass served on a bed of spinach with fresh seasonal vegetables and potatoes and an orange and cranberry (g,df)
  • Mushroom Risotto cake with a beetroot salad, pesto dressing and vegetable crisps (v)
